You ask me
to do the
impossible,

To walk
with confidence
on the water
and to command
the mountain
to be moved.

You ask me
to abandon myself
utterly
completely
without condition,
holding
nothing back
loosening
my grip
on everything
in my possession

all hopes and plans
all dreams and
all desires.

You ask
not for half
but for all,
not for half-giving

or half-loving
or half-trusting
or half-believing
– for You
my Lord
gave all,
and therefore
ask for all.

Without You
I possess nothing –
except
my poverty
of heart
and mind
and soul.

Take even
this poverty
for the building
of Your Kingdom
and then I shall
be rich.
